ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari said that present government attaches high importance to Pakistani expatriates and all possible efforts would be made to provide maximum facilities to expatriates and their dependents. He termed Pakistani expatriates as roaming ambassadors and precious assets of the country and said their well-being is the top priority of the government.
Addressing the annual prize distribution and oath taking ceremony of students at OPF Girls College Islamabad, Mr. Bukhari said that sterling qualities of head and heart take shape in school boundaries. He congratulated the students who have brought laurels for the college with their excellent performance in the Federal Board Examinations and particularly congratulated Arooj Kiran who topped Federal Board’s Matric exams this year. He appreciated the management of OPF and Girls College for doing exemplary work in female education and has achieved recognition as a distinguished institution. He also appreciated that OPF Girls College has extended full cooperation in harnessing the latest technology through E-Learning Program. “It is really commendable to provide quality education to the under-served students in our schools in the far flung areas”, he said adding every nation needs to nurture its off-springs in a conducive environment and develop them with the best available resources.
The Special Assistant expressed his immense pleasure over the fact that a state-of-the-art campus of OPF University is under construction for post graduate classes in Islamabad which will cater to the educational needs of children of Overseas Pakistanis. He congratulated the office-bearers of the newly elected student council and hope that they will take responsibilities as future leaders for the uplift of the college and their country. He also appreciated the high-achievers for their outstanding performance in academics as well as in co-curricular activities.
Managing Director (OPF), Dr. Amer Sheikh said that Overseas Pakistanis Foundation is playing a major role in providing quality education to the students not only in the heart of the capital but also across the length and breadth of Pakistan. He said that OPF Girls College in a short span of time has emerged as one of the best female institutions of the country, meeting the requirements of the Overseas Pakistanis who want their children to study in Pakistan to educate them in Pakistani culture and with Islamic values. He said that outstanding academic results of the college in the Federal Board’s Matric Exam; especially Arooj Kiran’s distinction validates OPF Girls College’s reputation as one of the leading educational institutions for girls in Islamabad. He further said that Overseas Pakistanis Foundation has launched an E-Learning initiative to provide quality education in all its educational institutions. “Its purpose is to leverage the knowledge and teaching skills of its existing expert faculty to address educational needs of the children of under-served areas”, he added.
Principal of the college, Shahina Masood threw light on curricular and co-curricular achievements of the college. Earlier, the chief guest administered oath of newly elected office-bearers of student council and distributed prizes among high-achievers.
