Biography

Mohammed Afzal Khan CBE is a Labour Party politician in Manchester, England and a Member of the European Parliament. Afzal Khan was born in Pakistan and moved to Brierfield in Lancashire when he was 12 years old. He was the first Pakistani origin and Muslim to become Lord Mayor of Manchester during 2005-2006. Afzal Khan was also remained advisor to the Department of Trade and Industry between the years of 2000 and 2004 and has worked as a non-executive director for North Manchester Primary Health Care Trust since 2001.
